Who We Are

Who We Are

Northwest Suburban Dinner At Your Door is an ecumenical, non-profit community service program, serving Crystal, Golden Valley, New Hope, Eastern Plymouth and Robbinsdale. The program is sponsored by churches and civic organizations as well as Crystal Community Center’s Volunteers of America Senior Dinning Program as an expression of their love and concern for people. Our program furnishes hot, nourishing meals at a nominal fee to shut-ins who can’t cook for themselves. Meals are planned by Dieticians according to the individual’s needs and delivered by volunteers from churches and civic organizations. Donations from individuals and organizations make this program possible.

Dear Friends at Dinner At Your Door,

Thank you all for providing Tony and I with all the good meals this winter. They always arrived good and hot. I especially appreciated the volunteers who came out in all kinds of weather with a pleasant greeting and brought good cheer and good food.

How did this program get started?

In the Fall of 1972, under the direction of Church Women United in greater Minneapolis, three organizational meetings were held to provide a “Meals for shut-ins” program for people in the Northwestern suburbs. Who is eligible?

The homebound, elderly, convalescent or people with disabilities who cannot prepare balanced, hot meals for themselves and are residents of Crystal, Golden Valley, New Hope, Eastern Plymouth and Robbinsdale.

When are the meals delivered?

Volunteers deliver a hot mid-day meal, to each client’s door, Monday through Friday (Excluding Holidays).
